The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) website is the national education authority that serves as the most beneficial information tool to assist teachers and students in the state of Virginia. As the Music Education teacher for K-5 grade, I find this educational platform a highly relevant and supplementary source for developing my lesson plans, students assessment regulations, and receiving valuable information about useful events. As such, the VDOEs Fine Arts Monthly News provides links and resources for the upcoming events. By exploring the website and its opportunities to enhance my teaching practice, I am now able to participate in the webinar that will be conducted by the Virginia Fine Arts Music Specialist on June 23, 2020 (News & Announcements, 2020). The webinar will focus on COVID-19 Consideration for Virginia Music Educators concerning music education issues and challenges in terms of the 2020-2021 school year.
More specifically, VDOE will introduce research and strategies, as well as critical resources to support music teachers who might be currently addressing complicated and ambiguous educational environments caused by the pandemic. I believe that such an opportunity provided by Virginias state education agency is crucial since it will present the most important aspects of existing research on COVID-19 in correlation with the choral and instrumental music. I am the Vocal educator at the Elementary school, which is why this webinar might greatly assist in analyzing my future strategic steps in teaching the K-5 students. In general, I aim at making this music education possible and effective in given circumstances. In addition, the webinar will also emphasize the core strategies for shifting the curriculum to adhere to more strict health and safety requirements, which are significant within a classroom environment. With that said, the VDOE websites resources enable more opportunities for teachers and expand current educational practice regarding its development in the limited learning climate.
