Why would people give up all things cheesy and meaty to live a life based completely on a plant-based diet? You might ask, but a lot of people have taken up this lifestyle, in a bid to reduce the socio-economic impact of the Carnivorous Diet.

The term Vegan was coined in the early 1944 by Donald Watson, Veganism has been around since the 1800s but had a comeback in the late 2010s when we saw a host of Celebrities take up this plant-based lifestyle as an alternative to meat and other animal product. It might seem that it wouldnt make a difference if a couple of people eat meat or not but studies have shown, that the vegan lifestyle has indeed had a remarkable effect on the society at large.

One of these is the sensitization of more people to the inhumane treatment of animals, to get meat and other products gotten from animals, such as milk, honey, egg, fur, leather, wool, and a host of other products. We have seen organizations like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) A non-profit corporation with over 6.5 million supporters and members, spring up and effect positive change in the treatment of animals.

Also, the vegan lifestyle is associated with a wide range of Health benefits. It has been observed that a plant-based diet appears to lower blood sugar levels and improve kidney function. According to WHO, one-third of cancers can be prevented by factors within your control such as your diet, and the vegan lifestyle which focuses mainly on nutrition derived from plants and a healthier diet, is truly the safer choice. A vegan diet is richer in certain nutrients such as fiber, magnesium, folic acid, and vitamins C and E, and can also help to lose excess weight as it naturally reduces your calorie intake. So thinking of eating healthier and trying to lose a few pounds? Then maybe you should try veganism.

The vegan diet over the past couple of years has expanded so much, as it has seen the introduction of new and improved, yet delicious meals that satisfy your body, and keep you feeling sharp and healthy. Most of these dishes are easy to make, very nutritious, and give you an overall sense of wellness. Examples include Grilled Asparagus and Shitake Tacos, Tofu pad Thai, Tomato soup, and so on. As a result of greater demand for a Vegan diet, we have seen the introductions of purely vegan restaurants, stores, and even markets, aimed at satisfying your need for all things vegan creating a new and untapped market for various individuals who are producers of vegan foods, products and services and this in a way is leading to a cleaner, more emphatic society.

Studies conducted by the University of Oxford found that removing meat and dairy products from your diet can reduce an individuals carbon footprint from food by up to 73 percent. Amazing right?

Not everyone might want to deal with the reality of where, and how our meat and other animal product comes from, but eventually, when faced with the cruelty of how all these were gotten, you may be forced to admit that maybe being Vegan is not so bad after all.
