The question is “Do we or do we not have Free Will?” I have given you FOUR primary documents to read and use to help guide you through this simple, but yet difficult question. You should understand these concepts enough to see how they would apply to your position on the question of “Free Will.” You can use your text as a source as well, and at the end of each chapter, there is a Work’s cited page, look at those texts online (This is a suggestion). The originals are out there.
I am looking for 1,500 to 2,000 words on the question this entire course revolves around, “DO we have Free Will?” There is no right answer. However, there are better arguments for your reasoning of your position. Remember, you will have thought about this topic and engaged some very important material, so you are no longer allowed to have this position as a “Belief” or “An Opinion.” These are concepts and ideas you have thought about. This means that you either THINK we have “Free Will,” or THINK we do “Not have Free Will.” You KNOW this, please remember when you are writing your essay. These are no longer opinions or beliefs, these are “Things you know,” and as we speak of throughout this course, we can only know those things we can support though evidence. Anything less is belief or opinion and will not help an argument.
AN Argument is a thesis statement, in this case “People do have free will, and it can be supported in the thoughts. THen you can cite an author or document, and explain the topic in your own words. Remember, you are explaining to me why you THINK we do or do not have free will. If there is something Locke says or Plato, or Aurelius, cite it and explain it in your own words and your OWN thinking.
WHen you write your short essays, please remember to write them as if it was a part of your research for your term paper. Work SMART, not hard.
