Introduction
A well-chosen tactic of action is a crucial factor in the success of police officers in preventing or eliminating crimes. Every year, police officers worldwide develop more and more thoughtful courses of action to preserve the safety of citizens and society in general. Naturally, they could not do without the use of various achievements of scientists in technology in their actions. Modern technologies make it possible to ensure the maximum level of public safety due to their efficiency, thoughtfulness, and speed of application. This paper states how to apply technologies in the police patrol, their features, and their positive consequences.
Technologies
Firstly, police patrol software is helpful and widely used worldwide. It stores data on all crimes ever committed without making mistakes as clearly as possible. The software stores various geographical and temporal data, information about infrastructure, weather, and the number of shootings in different areas, which confirms its effectiveness. Thanks to this, the drilling of police officers is carefully analyzed and processed so that there are no empty zones or areas without proper supervision. Police patrol software that excludes such crimes as vandalism, drug use, and traffic stops will eliminate the negative feedback loop of enforcement bias and over-policing (Ethridge, 2021). Moreover, police officers can record their activities and record their actions, including location, time, and tactics. Thus, the use of specialized software helps police patrols to do their job efficiently and qualitatively.
Secondly, police officers use neural networks to identify peoples faces and build a biometric template. The goal of facial recognition software is to help improve safety and security in many instances (Fritsvold, 2019). With video surveillance installed throughout the city, a law enforcement officer can find a suspect by uploading his photo to the database. The system identifies a person and determines the place of residence and the route of movement around the city. Moreover, biometrics has proved to be a handy tool for police patrol. These include voice recognition, palmprints, wrist veins, iris recognition, gait analysis, and even heartbeats (Fritsvold, 2019). The police can use this technology to predict and prevent possible crimes.
Thirdly, body-worn video cameras have found their use among most police officers worldwide. They help employees of dispatching units monitor what is happening clearly and, if necessary, report on the deterioration of the situation to send support. There have also been other studies completed, the most notable in California, USA. The case has resulted in BWV cameras appearing to reduce the number of complaints made against officers. Both police officers and public members are apparently changing their behavior because of its use (Rogers & Scally, 2018). Body cameras can also serve as a mechanism to reduce the number of people killed by police officers due to anti-crime operations. However, despite the benefits that cameras bring, this innovation is under development, requiring further research to understand their benefits to society clearly.
Fourthly, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology is evolving every day and appears on the streets of cities more and more. ANPR can be either fixed or portable cameras, and they allow police forces to combat many different types of crime, including burglary, supplying drugs, domestic violence, and vehicle crime (Rogers & Scally, 2018). Also, this technology can prevent offenses related to criminals belonging to high-risk groups and against various criminal associations. With its help, police officers can also recognize cars in theft and crimes related to administrative offenses. This technology makes it possible to monitor what is happening in real-time. Therefore, the police can actively react to the danger that has arisen. The above facts speak of impeccable assistance to the police in the fight against offenders.
Sixthly, another technology in demand among the police is uncrewed aerial vehicles or drones. The drones gave law enforcement officers new opportunities for observation, coordination of operational actions, analysis of the situation, and search for violators and victims. Police officers use compact quadcopters ready for flight and complex multifunctional flight platforms and unmanned systems. The US police often use drones to collect information and conduct broadcasts from the places of emergency rescue operations. Drone USA is an organization that trains volunteers, firefighters, and US intelligence agencies to fly drones. It is worth saying that this technology is often used in the opposite direction to collect information data or track specific individuals to commit further crimes. In this case, the Dutch police use specially trained birds of prey to disarm the enemy from the drones (Rogers & Scally, 2018). Every department can use drones to solve tasks quickly, safely, and discreetly with minimal operating costs.
Conclusion
Summing up, technology is an impeccable breakthrough into the future, which is being used in an increasing number of fields of activity. The use of complex technological systems by police officers to ensure the safety of citizens is a vital and correct step in the development of the infrastructure of security and public order. The evolution of the technologies used is growing, respectively, the security potential of citizens and the population is growing, which is a positive consequence.
