What impact did the Industrial Revolution have in society?
The Industrial Revolution is one of the most meaningful events in the history of humanity and its altered the social life greatly. First, it preconditioned the gradual rise of the level of comfort available to people as the appearance of new means of production promoted the entry of new goods into the market (Griffiths, Strayer, & Cody-Rydzewski, 2015). Second, it also facilitated the development of science because of the emergence of the need for new technologies to support the rise of industry. Finally, it increased the speed of urbanization which resulted in the growth of giant cities and their importance.
Do you think the advantages of technology are worth the disadvantages? Why or why not?
I am sure that the advantages of technology are worth the disadvantages. The fact is that the development of science is an integral aspect of evolution as it drives our thoughts and promotes the desire to move further. Humanity cannot stop using technologies as it will mean stagnation and gradual decline (Wytsma, 2017). Additionally, the level of comfort and the quality of life that come from the spread of new devices are the central components of the modern society which guarantee our existence. That is why it is critical to continue developing technologies to minimize their disadvantages and generate benefits.
Does free public education contribute to the development of U.S. democracy?
Education is a fundamental aspect of any democratic society or state. The fact is that ignorance and the lack of knowledge create the basis for speculations as people deprived of an opportunity to acquire needed data do not have their own judgments and beliefs. On the contrary, educated people participate in social processes that shape the state and promote its further evolution (Henslin, 2016). In such a way, the future development of free public education is essential for the rise of U.S. democracy and cultivation of democratic values because it contributes to better understanding of how the state functions.
What does equality mean to you?
I am sure that equality should play a fundamental role in the functioning of every state. I can define it as the existence of same opportunities for peoples personal and professional development regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, and gender. The previous experience of discrimination and segregation shows that the disregard of the basic human rights results in stagnation and decline (Healey, Stepnick, & OBrien, 2018). For this reason, equality is also one of the central driving forces that make communities evolve by suggesting any its member an opportunity to contribute to the development, which is critical regarding the existing diversity.
Do you believe everyone has a right to a job?
The diversification of activities peculiar to the modern society promoted the appearance of multiple jobs needed to support the existing level of comfort and satisfy peoples high demands. For this reasons, numerous individuals work in different fields starting from management and ending with rocket building (Sensoy & Di Angelo, 2017). At the same time, there is the tendency towards the further increase in the number of requirements towards the quality of life and number of produced goods. Under these conditions, I am sure that everyone should have a right to a job to promote the further rise of our world.
