The Business Strategy Options, or COMPETES, is most applicable to the Walmart case. This approach is focused on finding a way to stand out from competitors, to form some uniqueness by fulfilling one or more criteria. First of all, Walmart, created in 1962, is the bearer of the unique image of the wholesale and retail chain (Grant, 2018). Before the appearance of this company, no one had carried out networks of such a scale. The approach to the sale of goods was also unique at the time of creation, which consisted of the independent choice of products by the buyer.

The Harley Davidson case is a prime example of the Keys to Core Competency or VRIN strategy. The company meets all the essential characteristics, as its motorcycles are extremely valuable, rare, in fact unique, and inimitable. Harley products have a special status, almost religious, closely associated with symbolism with American culture (Grant, 2018). Although there are many bike companies on the market, Harley Davidson maintains a unique position due to the quality of the motorcycles they manufacture and their history. That is why, among other things, their technique is irreplaceable and has no analogues.

Segmentation Strategies or SING is a strategy in line with the enormous international conglomerate of companies Virgin Group. The basis of such a large concentration of companies is the division of the general market into several niches, which are segmented for certain groups of customers. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the Virgin Group significantly expanded its extend to many areas, including audio recording, the closest niche to the primary market, air travel, and cellular communications (Grant, 2018). This approach to dividing the commerce into standardized groups allows the conglomerate to generate the most income and maintain influence around the world.
