Signature Assignment: Assessment Project (Psychological Report))
The purpose of this assignment is to help students develop an understanding of approaches and techniques to assessment and evaluation and to develop knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate comprehensive client assessment processes across diverse populations. The student’s completed assignment should reflect the student’s understanding of the approaches to assessment, such as the basic concepts of standardized and non-standardized testing and other assessment techniques (e.g. psychological testing, behavioral observations).
After completing parts one and two of this project (intake interview and assessment critique), the will compile the information and complete a psychological report summarizing the data.
Based on the results of the bio-psycho-social-spiritual assessment with their partner, the student chose an additional instruments/assessments they would use to further assist them in the assessment and diagnostic process of the pseudo client. The student will identify and consider the developmental stage of the client. Following the template attached in blackboard, the student will then write up a report and reflection of their assessment findings and interview. The student’s rationale of instrument selection should reflect their awareness of social and cultural factors related to assessment and the ethical strategies for selecting, administering, and interpreting assessment and evaluation instruments and techniques in counseling. The student will address the development stage of their “client”, and should demonstrate their understanding of developmental considerations of the client as it pertains to assessment selection. (Student will be offered class time in weeks two and four to conduct the initial parts of this assignment with their partner which will provide them the opportunity to receive feedback on their assessment interview from professor and their pseudo client. This assignment assesses 2016 CACREP Standards: 2.F.3.a, F.7.e, and F.7.m.
The assessment project should include the following:
Rationale for the assessment instrument chosen with support from the literature
Consideration of social and cultural factor related to the assessment (chosen instrument and biopsychosocial assessment)
Literature review pertaining to the instrument selection including ethical considerations
Report of the biopsychosocialspiritual assessment interview
