I studied in a boarding school St. Judes School & Junior College in Ooty. According to my school back then in 2014, every Saturday was an activity day let’s say a No bag day where we get to involve in different activities like trekking, cycling, industrial visits, old age home & orphanage visits, tea plantation visits, etc. Our school organizes differently every Saturday which is fun for all of us.

We can see old age homes all across the world. But unfortunately, even the best old age home has old people and orphanages with children that are unhappy, lonely, and sad. Even the best writers fail to explain the affection, bonding & between a child and mother. Theres no parent in this world who does not want their children to be happy. But the saddest part is when children grow up, they choose to push their parents into old age homes and parents leave their children at such a tender age.

On Saturday, We visited an old age home and it was an amazing feeling. I met old mothers and fathers who were left back for the rest of their lives. I talked with them and collected fond memories. I learned a lot from them. I tore out when I met Ms.Deepa when she explained to me how she ended up there and some good memories she had with her children but still she never lost hope and thinks that someday her children would take her home. This moment took me deep I felt like I was hurt. Many of them spoke up and shared some of the struggles and turmoils they had faced. They even walked us to show their homes and fed me with some food and water.

After lunch, We gathered all of them in their meeting hall we wanted to entertain them all and so practice some fun segments like drama, skits, dance, singing, etc, so all my classmates grouped into teams and worked on some activities to entertain them. Each group came forward performing before them. It was so nice seeing everyone laugh and giggle. We even conducted games for them and many came forward to showcase their talents. We then had an interactive session, when we heard them as they poured their heart out to us. Tears welled up in our eyes when we heard how most of the mothers longed that their children would come and take them home. I loved each and every moment spent with them.
