The issue of personal responsibility has always been more or less of a problem for humanity. Every member of society is constantly faced with the need to make choices, perform duties, and interact with the people around them. As Earths population grows, it is becoming increasingly harder to determine the limitations and regulations of responsibility especially personal ones. According to Wikipedia (2021), it took over 2 million years of human prehistory and history for the worlds population to reach 1 billion and only 200 years more to grow to 7 billion (para. 1). The society of today is diverse in many aspects, and this multitude of opinions, heritages, cultures and social structures is shaping the modern understanding of the concept of responsibility.

Any person is able to climb the ladder of development, but the transition to a higher level is possible only with an understanding of personal responsibility. Humanity will be able to grow and evolve only if every person or, at least, the overwhelming majority is aware of their own personal responsibility to this world and the future generations. Roser et al. (2013) state that to provide space, food, and resources for a large world population in a way that is sustainable into the distant future is a serious challenge for our generation (para. 69).

The worlds population is progressing fast, and if people of today will not understand that they are responsible for tomorrow, there might be no tomorrow at all. For example, Infoplease (2020) reports that changes in the environment threaten important food production regions, like the Caribbean and the rainforests of Latin America (para. 4). In the face of todays conditions, when each decade, humanity grows more than in the last, it is of crucial importance for every person to understand and fully accept their personal responsibility.
