Personal Ethics Statement

A personal ethics statement is a statement that is written to give an individual an opportunity for a person to be in a position to state and clarify ones goals and moral principles. In this process, there are stages which one needs to put into consideration before one can start writing (Kleinsasser). Personal statements play a crucial role when it comes to making decisions about which direction one ought to take in any profession.

This is because they inform the consequences of the actions which are taken by an individual. In essence, there is a great need to note the fact that personal statements enable me to know which circumstances are prevailing and which circumstances might not be right. For instance, there are cases when I might need to evaluate ones strengths and weaknesses to be able to take or act on a project. Ethical values are crucial in any given profession. In careers which demand honesty and excellence, personal statements play a vital and crucial role. This is because they enable me to ensure that he or she is in the right position of action. The action which I take based on my personal ethics statements are based on the following principles.

My ethical values are as follows, strive to be honest in all matters, ensure that I deliver quality work, pursue excellence in all matters and affairs of life, avoid procrastination and wastage of time, I should do to others what I feel that they should do to me and lastly, I should ensure that I keep in line with the law in all matters and affairs that I delve into.

The Blind Spot

I have a strong belief that we are products of the choices that we have made in the past. This may easily lead me to be too judgmental about people who I feel have not made it in life. Consequently, this may hinder positive appraisals towards people who have made it in the past using meager resources at their disposal. To be effective, I should be able to understand that life may not be what it seems to be, rather, one should live life in appreciation of what comes their way.

Personal Strengths and Weaknesses

There are several aspects of my personality which I can conclude to make up my strengths as well as personal weaknesses. Essentially, my strengths will spur me into the direction of fulfilling my personal ethics statement. On the other hand, my weaknesses may threaten the efforts which I may be making towards that end.

Strengths

These include those inclinations which I hold as a person, which are useful towards becoming a person who I have described in the ethics statement. Focus, as a person, I hold a high degree of focus when it comes to dealing or accomplishing tasks that I have set out to do. Secondly, I have a high degree of discipline, especially when it comes to accomplishing tasks. I hold the opinion that feelings should not define what I do or not do. Rather, the reason should take center stage in most matters in not all matters of life.

Weaknesses

At times, I find myself choosy and rather bossy. This hinders my ability to connect with people who may be well-meaning and concerned about my life in general.

My Values and the Resultant Behaviors

At times, I find myself too engrossed in myself and critical of other peoples work at the expense of seeking to work with others towards the realization of the personal goals which I have set.
