It is important to note that people with disabilities are among the vulnerable groups to be excluded from various integral aspects of societal life. Therefore, it is of paramount relevance to understanding the key fundamental principles and beliefs, which are designed to ensure comprehensive and all-encompassing inclusivity for people with disabilities.
Throughout the course, my view of people with disabilities shifted from a caring to an admiring attitude, and thus, one needs to be aware that the group has a fundamental right to take part in all aspects of social life, including work, home, education, and community. An individual with a disability also has a right to determine his or her own future and not be restricted by rules imposed on the group. Such an inclusive condition and environment must be provided from the start, which is it is critical to expanding the special education programs effectiveness to provide not only early assistance but also prevention and identification efforts. However, the biggest challenges for people with disabilities emerge when they are ready to enter the labor market. Finding employment suitable and desirable for a person with a disability is an intricate task, which can be made significantly easier and smoother if there are properly accommodated. Therefore, students with disabilities require special education to help them in the given transition process to ensure their future prosperity and success as valuable members of society.
Moreover, one of the biggest insights gained throughout the course is the presence of cultural barriers, which can bring both direct and indirect unfairness to the community members. In other words, it is special educations responsibility to advocate for social justice and enhance cultural competence for people with disabilities. The latter statement is critical to promoting inclusivity and diversity and avoiding viewing the group as one homogenous category because people with disabilities come from a diverse set of backgrounds. In addition, another major insight is manifested in the fact that the role of family and school relationships cannot be overlooked. Both of these institutions provide a high degree of effectiveness as well as meaningfulness in regard to the enhancement of special education.
On the basis of the previous statements, it is important to note that special educators play an essential role in the realization process of uplifting people with disabilities. Therefore, these educators need supplemental service, support, and knowledge as well. The given professionals ensure that all students have access to effective education, which is their key right. However, effective educational programs are only possible if educators themselves show care for their students by demanding more effective and expansive curriculum materials as well as more advanced instructional tools to successfully conduct their mission of providing a high-quality education (Storey & Haymes, 2016). Despite all the current issues hindering the community of people with disabilities, positive changes are gradually taking place, which is indicative of the fact that the people with disabilities holds great promise.
In conclusion, people with disabilities are highly valued members of society, and they have the fundamental right to be able to participate in all aspects of societal life. Special education plays a critical role in uplifting and empowering the group because it can provide outstanding and effective education, help them become effective members of the labor market, become leaders, and advocate for their rights for proper education.
