Introduction

Healthy dieting behaviors are essential for peoples health and well-being. However, abnormal eating habits are very common nowadays. Therefore it is necessary to increase awareness among the general public regarding normal dieting. The main goal of this paper is to discuss the difference between normal dieting and eating disorders.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are caused by unhealthy eating behaviors and serious anxiety about overweight and bad body shape. They might include excessive consumption of food that eventually can harm health. However, some other eating disorders are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa (Eating disorders, n.d.). Such deviant behaviors might be seen in both men and women. Eating disorders might occur at different stages of life. However, teenagers suffer from such problems more often. These disorders are classified as medical conditions. Therefore, different treatment options can effectively address the problem. Even though eating disorders can be treated, they often result in serious complications, for example, depression or other mental illnesses.

As mentioned above, there are three different types of such a condition. The first type is Anorexia Nervosa. People who suffer from this type of eating disorder have excessive anxiety about their weight. They refuse to maintain a healthy body weight because of distorted perception of body image (Eating disorders, n.d., para. 8). The second type is Bulimia Nervosa. This type is characterized by opposite eating patterns. However, excessive food consumption eventually results in similar fears. Such emotional imbalance leads to excessive exercising, forced vomiting, or inadequate use of medications. The third type is Binge Eating Disorder. People who suffer from it cannot control their eating behaviors. All these disorders might result in such complications as dehydration, cardiovascular disease, or obesity.

Normal Dieting

Normal eating does not necessarily imply dietary limitations. A healthy diet is about providing the body with all the required nutrients that include vitamins, proteins, and minerals. It aims at improving physical health and mental condition. Normal eating is an important skill that helps people to enjoy different foods and drinks (Healthy eating, n.d.). It also helps to learn about the way people should eat. It is a well-known fact that normal dieting is necessary to maintain a healthy weight and prevent various health issues. Also, it has a direct impact on a persons well-being. Inadequate diet might even lead to different mental disorders, for example, Alzheimers disease or schizophrenia. Normal dieting is important at any age. Some of the most common tips for healthy dieting include eating more vegetables and fruits, avoiding the excessive consumption of sugar, and cooking at home. Also, normal dieting is an important part of various treatment plans. Many diseases can be addressed more effectively if a person changes their eating habits.

Therefore, normal dieting is a necessary measure to prevent eating disorders. Mindful consuming of food is crucial for peoples health. The lack of knowledge about the possible complications of eating disorders is very dangerous, especially for adolescences.

Conclusion

In conclusion, normal dieting and eating disorders are two terms that exclude each other. People who do not have healthy eating habits often suffer from various medical conditions. Sometimes such problems result in severe complications such as heart disease or gastrointestinal disorders. On the other hand, normal dieting is important for good health. Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate mindful eating habits among people suffering from eating disorders.
