Esports Event
A local New York tournament New York Junior Electronic Sports League (NYJESL)*1 in the e-sports discipline Dota 2 aims to attract aspiring athletes under the age of 18. The current discipline is highly prominent due to the increasing amount of players and the growing revenue of the tournament The International that comprised the prize pool of $34,330,068 in 2019 (The International). In Dota 2, each team comprises of five players, and the groups compete against each other in one versus one nature (Dota 2).
Event Outline and Run of Show
The current event is the terminal stage of the NYJESL that comprises both the online group stage and the local area network (LAN) finals. During the initial phase, sixteen teams were divided into two groups and competed for the frontal four positions that would allow players to be invited to the LAN finals. Therefore, the finals accommodate eight teams with monetary prizes for the top two groups competing in the finals with the distribution of 65% to 35%.
Overview
The event commences with the introduction of all eight teams on the main stage accompanied by the music. Consequently, the two sessions of the quarterfinals and one session of the semifinals are executed on two separate stages, and the viewers are able to watch the matches on the screen on the main stage. The run of show is followed by a break for the players and an autograph session for the viewers. The final match commences at 20.30 and presumably ends at midnight. The event ends with an award ceremony on the main stage.
