The most efficient approaches to business management require well-defined and organized goals and problems that have to be achieved and solved. One critical element is understanding a chosen fields business needs. We can define those needs as set goals and objectives which have to be accomplished to build a profitable, effective, and successful business (Mahyuddin & Onrizal, 2019). The primary purpose of needs is to highlight the attention focus for the company to follow. Critical thinking, analysis, and problem statement are needed to identify them successfully. To write a problem statement, one should complete the research closely related to the trend in the community and economy and define the obstacles which prevent the business from the most efficient fulfillment of the stated needs (Mahyuddin & Onrizal, 2019).

The business need and problem statement play a central role in the development of strategies that support informatics issues of the health care organization. Such establishments must rethink their approach to adapting the system to the evolving trends of information technologies. The business needs to combine capability and improvement, such as organizational issues of fee schedules, billing systems, and staff management, alongside the patients information and processes of professional activity (Mahyuddin & Onrizal, 2019). Studying the example of the Atrium hospital system, the problem statement includes obstacles of varied nursing workflows, incongruence between nursing and pharmacy workflow, and limitations with EMR (ANIA, n.d.). Hence, we can develop three goals relating to the mentioned issues. First, transition to the new informatic system EPIC to optimize the need capability. Second, to secure patients safety during the data transition process, for instance, if some IV pumps did not update the drug library or could not associate the scanned IV pumps to the EMR. Third, to identify the format of data in the new system. For example, if the data in the old system is text-only, decide whether the structure will remain the same, or the new system will include scan reports and images. Whether data points will be transferred as discrete values or non-discrete data should be clear.

ANIA (n.d.) reported that in 2016 the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Utah, after their IV pump integration with chemotherapy medications, challenges were faced, including medication errors. In this project, Atrium hospitals project management team and the Informatics team need to know the scope of data migration, the difference between the two systems, and the scale of customization required before data can be migrated. One system is replaced by another that is more promising, efficient, cost-friendly, and secure, which will help to fulfill business needs successfully. It is often reported that after migration to the new system, IV pumps generate fewer alerts, which should be taken care of (Joseph et al., 2020). The management will need to ensure that the team involved in data migration understands, chooses, and evaluates data migration efficiently and that they have a complete picture of the data that will be migrated.

Data migration on the cloud server should be agreed upon before migration begins so that the data structure can be altered accordingly. One factor that plays a vital role in data migration is how data will be migrated. If it is migrated through the internet, the bandwidth will determine the speed of data migration, and NOVANT hospital will need a high bandwidth data service to complete the task in less time. It would be ideal to migrate a small portion of data and see how many changes are required during the process. If data migration requires too many structures, amount, and composition changes, the project deadline should be decided accordingly. Therefore, achieving the stated goals requires a detailed exploration of features of CERNER and EPIC, such as security, user interface, and data processing.
