Imagine life without electricity. Well, I can. I was stranded on the red planet also known as Mars alone when my source of power ran out. Standing in the middle of nowhere no signs to direct me back to my shelter. I sat down and I started crying. After a while, I stood up and wiped my tears. I immediately stopped feeling sorry for myself and started seeking a signal so I could contact the station but I couldn’t even find one bar. I then started calling for help and thats when I quickly remembered that I was all alone. As I watched the sunset I started feeling sorry for myself. I felt frustrated and defeated. My stomach started growling with hunger. I slowly sat down and started feeling homesick. There was no way I was going to eat. It was freezing cold and I felt numb and it was dim. As I was walking the drops of rain fell on my face.
After a really long time, I finally got to my shelter and sat in the dark corner. Not knowing how I was going to eat or make electricity. As I was sitting in the dark corner a brilliant thought as to a possible course of action popped into my head and I started thinking of ways to turn my idea into a reality. I quickly put on dry clothes and I started thinking of ways electricity could be generated with the limited equipment that I had. I poured a glass of water and took a sip of it as I kept on thinking and thinking. Drinking that water I thought of hydropower. I quickly stood up and fetched a liter of water I then poured one liter into a machine and connected the red wire to the blue and a violent movement caused by electricity went through me. I went and sat in the dark corner. I felt as if I wanted to give up but thats when I thought of radiant energy. I placed a solar panel on the roof so it could extract the energy from the sun and turn it into electrical energy. But because Mars is so far from the sun that plan failed as well. I then went and sat in (my thinking corner) the dark corner. As I was sitting in the dark corner with my bottle of water I scanned the room and for some reason, I stopped at the trash bin. I stared at it for a while.
While I was looking at the trash bin. I could feel my detailed proposal for achieving something falling into place. I quickly stood up and emptied the trash bin. Before I poured the waste material I separated the renewable materials from the non-renewable materials. I carefully poured the non-renewable material into the machine. As I was connecting the red wire to the blue wire electricity went through my body and I got electrocuted. The results werent satisfying either because I had only made three watts and my little light bulb didnt switch on. I bravely tried for the second time but this time I used renewable materials. I connected the red wire to the blue wire my little light bulb switched on and I made a large quantity of electricity, I had happily made electricity. I pushed myself into the warm air with a feeling of joy. I was successful in my plan to make electricity. I felt so grateful for my tenacious spirit. I quickly connected all the metal drawn out into the form of a thin flexible thread in order for electricity to flow around the shelter that I was living in. I may have miserably failed a couple of times but in the end, I was successful. Being stranded on a planet is not the worst thing that could happen to you, all you need is heart and determination.
