In your final paper, you will choose a conflict (it can be the same conflict you worked on for the midterm paper) and you will provide a comprehensive plan on how to bring the ongoing conflict towards a sustainable peace. In this comprehensive plan, you will not provide a lot of background. You can assume that I already know the context. You need to only talk about some (not all) of the previous interventions that aimed to bring peace to the conflict. After that, you will refer to the stage of the conflict or the curve of conflict and Lederach’s Levels of Action triangle and discuss what different actors can do to support sustainable peace in the conflict. The details of the sections in the paper can be:

Part I: Previous Interventions
In this section, delve into an analysis of past interventions undertaken by conflicting parties or third parties to manage, prevent, or resolve the conflict. Provide a critical examination of the impact these interventions had on the entire conflict process. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each intervention, highlighting where gaps existed in terms of successful strategies and areas that fell short.
Part II: Suggested Interventions
Transitioning into the second part, present your own recommendations aimed at fostering a more positive conclusion to the conflict. In every ongoing conflict, various entities such as individuals, governments, INGOs, and NGOs play roles in halting, resolving, or transforming conflicts. Utilizing Lederach’s level of action triangle as a framework, discuss how different actors can approach the current conflict. Emphasize the significance of considering the stage of the conflict when proposing interventions. Engage in critical thinking to discern which methods of intervention may or may not be effective at the present stage of the conflict, providing detailed insights into your suggested interventions.
