Natural capitalism is a global economy concept that emphasizes human dependence on natural resources and ecosystems provided by nature. In the context of ordinary capitalism, these values are usually not taken into account. However, mans dependence on nature and the continuing struggle of humanity with the natural order of things are always present and thus affect all of us. Every year there is more and more research showing how vulnerable nature is. This leads to creating environmental programs; the green revolution is actively developing a movement for more economical use of resources and the design of objects that combine with nature (Ethical Markets Media, 2005). The results of such changes are expressed for ordinary residents in promoting more environmentally friendly materials and creating movements that call to control their impact on the environment.
For many people, getting involved in these movements is limited to purchasing equipment marked with the Energy Star label. From my point of view, people need to make a more significant contribution to the environmental situation by tracking their environmental impact and the influence of companies. It is not enough to look at the same well-known Energy Star mark. Although this program has been in operation for many years, it does not solve all environmental problems. Moreover, in many respects, it is outdated and does not correspond to reality.
Before completing this learning activity, I, for example, did not think about tracking the environmental impact of other companies, and my purchases did not depend on it. But now I understand that the ecological situation in the whole world depends even on one persons purchases. If people do not buy things from companies that harm the environment, this will be the first step towards realizing the principles of natural capitalism. The second step is a responsible attitude to ones environmental footprint. At the moment, there are no concepts in peoples minds that would urge them to engage in this accounting. I also had no such thoughts, so I have yet to explore this area of environmental protection. However, from my perspective, it is necessary to make every effort to think about it as many people as possible. Only in this way can attention be drawn to environmental problems, and only in this way can they be effectively resolved.
