You will need the most specific information supporting your viewpoint. The bibliography will be double spaced, in Times New Roman, in twelve-point font, and with one-inch margins. You begin with writing your name, the instructor’s name, the assignment/class, and then the date in the upper left-hand corner. You will need a header in the upper right-hand corner of the page with your last name and the page number. You, then, will have a title that is centered in the center of the page that states, “Annotated Bibliography,” without any quotations placed around the title. When you begin writing the annotation, you will start with citing the source in MLA format. You, then, will be analyzing what you believe is the main idea in the source. The purpose of the assignment is to express what you believe the author’s, critics’, or scholar’s main point or thesis statement is in a paragraph. You need to include a paragraph that evaluates the content of the source. You need a minimum of five to six sentences in each evaluation. You can use a quote or paraphrase that best exemplifies the purpose of the source to support your evaluation.  You will, then, describe what the quote or paraphrase means. How does it prove what the main idea of the article is? Look for the most specific details that substantiate the main idea. Be as descriptive as you can when you analyze the purpose of the source.

25% MLA Citation
The source should first be cited in MLA format. The first line will not be indented, but the second line of the citation will be indented ten spaces or press the tab key. The sources should not  be numbered. Instead, you should alphabetize the sources starting with the last name of the author or article title. If it is a scholarly journal, you will need to begin with the last name of the author and the first name. You will also need to document the title of the source, the source, the publisher, the volume and number, as well as the date it was published. You will also need the hyperlink at the end of the citation. Review MLA citations for books, articles, and other media sources. This is found in your Easy Writer handbook. Make sure your documentation is in the MLA 9th edition format. There should only be one double space between annotations.

50% Content
You need a paragraph that thoroughly analyzes each source. You are to evaluate the strengths and the weaknesses of the main argument in each article, book, periodical, or journal. You should begin with a statement that captures the overall purpose of the article in an intriguing way. This statement will lead into the main point that will be stated more specifically later in the paragraph. Then, make sure to state the background information regarding the source. Describe the predominate viewpoints regarding the issue. How is this issue important in a greater context or relevant in our world today? After that, describe what the author’s stance is and state a specific quote, or paraphrase from the source a statement that best defines the author’s point of view. Describe how the quote best defines the author’s point of view. Give specific examples that support the author’s idea and analyze the evidence they give to support their point of view. At this point, you will need to specifically analyze what the debate is that the author is describing. Explain how the author addresses their audience. Use the most specific details when you analyze the main point of the source and how they explain their point of view to their audience. What is the author’s stance? Do they present an unbiased or a biased argument? Do they address both sides of the argument and refute it with logical evidence? What types of evidence do they use? Do you agree with the author? Why or why not? Do you agree with the types of logical appeals the author uses, and other rhetorical appeals such as ethos and pathos? Why or why not? Is the evidence the author presents effective in proving their point? How? At the end of the annotation, sum up the reasons behind the purpose of the source at the end of the paragraph. You will need at least four annotations for this assignment. State how you plan to use the source to prove your thesis in your research paper at the end of each annotation.
