1 Peter 1:13-21 is a compelling message that was written to the Gentile Christians that were being persecuted. Its primary purpose was to remind them that God had chosen them and they should be hopeful for a brighter future in Jesus. Through this letter, Peter offered great hope to the gentiles and instructed them to stay sober-minded and establish great faith in the coming of Jesus (Hales, 2021). Peter indicates that God is holy, and they should also be holy in all their doings. While Peter dictates that God is holy, this discussion will focus on examining various practical ways marketers can portray holiness in their interactions with potential clients.
Maintaining high levels of honesty is one-way salespersons can portray holiness. Honesty is one of the most underrated virtues yet has an excellent capability of destroying ones reputation (Castello, 2021). Salespeople ought, to be honest when dealing with their potential clients. They must be truthful about the products or services they are dealing with. If they tell lies and one of the lies is discovered, their credibility gets ruined, and any chances of making sales that they had been destroyed. If a sales individual over-promises and fails to deliver, they fail to secure another business from a customer or from other people that the client associates with (Castello, 2021). On the contrary, if a client discovers that the quality of a product or a service they have purchased aligns with what they were told, there is a high possibility of purchasing something else or referring their friends to the marketer. Integrity is another ethical value that a salesperson should listen to while portraying holiness. Salespersons with high integrity do not talk negatively about a competitor or their products.
Holiness is a virtue that God requires from every person since He is also holy. Nonetheless, many individuals, especially marketers, find themselves deviating from this value in their process of generating revenue. Marketers should strive to engage in activities that promote holiness in their dealings, such as honesty and integrity. This helps build trust with their clients and hence increases sales.
