Abortion is the termination or evacuation of an embryo or fetus from a pregnant woman. In the past, abortion limits and bans have been in place for three primary reasons. To begin with, the procedure was risky, and abortion doctors were murdering a large number of women (Berer, 2017). As a result, the rules were intended to safeguard women who, despite the laws, requested abortions and endangered their lives in the process, as they still do nowadays if they have no outside option (Berer, 2017). Abortion was regarded as a sin or a sort of moral violation, and laws were enacted to penalize and prevent the practice. In some or all cases, abortion was prohibited to protect the life of the fetus (Berer, 2017). Thus, in terms of a historical perspective, abortion was considered unethical and illegal.

However, in the current global paradigm of medicine and healthcare, abortion has become a relatively safe operation due to the increased quality of competencies and equipment. In addition, it is obligatory to emphasize the social context aspects connected to the issue. In the modern world, people generally discuss the notions of abortion from a more independent and pragmatic point of view. Hence, various individuals and communities can propose specific and serious reasons that can justify the necessity of abortion, for instance, when the mothers life is at risk and pregnancy occurs due to rape, or incest.

Position Statement

A woman who is a victim of a crime or who has serious risks to her health for reasons beyond her control should be able to save her life and make a legal abortion.

Reasons in Support of Your Position

As in other spheres of social life, total and non-alternative restrictions can provoke the emergence of illegal providers of specific services or operations. It should be obvious that the multitude of complicated abortion rules and limitations make no ethical or public health rationale (Berer, 2017). When abortion is provided on the womans wish, due to criminal or other serious issues, and is universally inexpensive and accessible, it is clear and indisputable that it is safe (Berer, 2017). Few current laws are suited for service from this standpoint, as they solely duplicate every feasible permutation of the same constraints (Berer, 2017). It will require a strong and active national coalition, a critical mass of support, and years of work to attain these goals, or anything near them (Berer, 2017). It involves a robust and proactive national coalition, a substantial volume of support, and years of work to attain these aims.

Opposing Position Statement

Despite the variability of objective reasons for abortion, pregnancy a priori means the birth of a new life and a new person who cannot be deprived of life.

Reasons in Support of the Opposing Position

It is possible to highlight several arguments that are utilized by the followers of the idea related to the fight against abortion. Even though the children are yet to be formed, it is unethical to murder an innocent human life. Various nations and institutions regard unborn fetuses to be human beings. Unborn infants are humans with the possibility to live since life starts at conception. A human being is born with a distinct genetic profile that remains constant throughout their existence. This person has a basic right to exist that must be safeguarded.
