Discussions are an integral part of every course in the Graduate program. They serve as in-depth explorations of science, knowledge, application, and innovation in nursing practice. Participation in a discussion begins with an initial, substantial post that addresses the topic of the discussion. All discussion posts should be made directly on the discussion board within the expected timeframe.
There are no wrong answers. Points for the discussion will be earned by the depth of thought in the initial posting and response postings. Per the rubric, points will be earned for the (a) content and timeframe of the initial posting; (b) analysis and supporting evidence; (c) participation with others within the discussion; and (d) structure, including organization and coherence (see DB grading rubric). Experiential exemplars are acceptable to include. Attachments should not be used for the posts but can be used for supporting materials (e.g., a data chart, an infographic, a supporting article from the literature). Citations to support any facts or evidence incorporated in posts are expected. A list of references for post citations should be included with the post, written in APA (7th ed.) format. Select a population from your community or practice.
Using state or county health data, zip code data, or other data that you may have, describe a significant health or health-related problem for your selected population. There are numerous links in this week’s learning resources that will provide you access to a wide variety of data sets for review.
Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
The post and responses are valued at 100 points. Please review post and response expectations. Please review the rubric to ensure that your response meets criteria.
