Caregivers play a vital role in infant and toddler development and are a valuable source of information for developmental research. For your final project, you will conduct an interview with someone who has cared for an infant (0-3 years old) at some point in their life.
Interview Guidelines
The term caregiver can mean anyone who has experience caring for a child. The person you interview currently is OR was at some point in their life a main caregiver for a child while the child was 0-3 years old.
Examples of who you can interview: a family member (e.g., your parents, your partner, grandparents, sibling or extended family with an infant), a friend who has/had an infant, or another similar person.
You may not interview yourself.
Choose 4 questions from the list provided to ask your interviewee, and complete the overarching discussion question. The questions are at the end of these instructions and available as a PDF for printing.
Submission Requirements
Submit a Word document or PDF
In your submission, include:
The interviewee’s responses (do not have to be exact words, but rather the notes you took during the interview).
Your response to the overarching discussion question where you summarize your interview findings and connect them to concepts/topics about infant development from this course (at least two concepts per question, eight total concepts).
Do not turn in any audio or video of the interview for this assignment, just submit the written portions.
Your response checked using Turn It In. Make sure to cite any sources you use and do not copy and paste content generated by AI.
Interview questions
These interview questions will help guide your interview. However, you may find that your interviewee wants to share beyond the question, and provide opinions and feelings about personal experiences as a caregiver. This is normal and encouraged. Take your time interviewing and hopefully both you and your interviewee gain valuable information and insight on the experience of being a caregiver.

Overarching Discussion Question (aim for 4-5 paragraphs)
Summarize the interview responses and connect them to at least 8 course concepts (2 per interview question). Use the concepts/glossary terms from each textbook chapters as a guide, but feel free to explore other relevant content like videos or podcasts from the weekly discussion posts. Provide APA 7 citations (both when using the textbook, and when using other content from the course) and a reference list for full points.
When organizing your assignment, make sure to state which interview questions you asked your interviewee, and BOLD each concept/topic the first time you mention it.
Note: Each interview question includes related chapters as a starting point. However, you are free to discuss any topics from the textbook that are related to your interviewee’s responses. You do not need to limit yourself to the specific chapters mentioned.
