Healthcare is definitely one of the most essential industries in the U.S. because every citizen has a right to receive high-quality medical support. The topics of healthcare often become the fundamental discussions of presidential debates, and the candidates try to present the best and the most effective ideas and implement them in the system. Thus, the following reflection will discuss how Bush, Obama, and Trump addressed the issues connected to AIDS and HIV.

President Bush put significant effort into controlling the problem of AIDS. The government was able to invest 50 billion dollars in fight against this serious illness, and this action made the U.S. a huge contributor to the process of managing this issue on the international level (Mr. Bushs health care legacy, 2009). Hence, Bush understood the importance of the problem and made the U.S. a huge contributor to its effective management.

Barack Obama also payed significant attention to AIDS/HIV. The president decided to invest in the development of treatments that help minimize the effect of the illness on human body (President Obama announces, 2011). He stated that this medicine can help to not only extend the life of people living in HIV but also prevent the future spread of the deadly virus (President Obama announces, 2011). Obama realized that the issue is critical and has to be managed immediately.

At the same time, Trump did not focus much on the disease during his presidency. Instead, he falsely suggested that the scientists were able to develop a vaccine for AIDS while probably referring to antiretroviral drugs (Lovelace, 2020). His statement received much criticism from the general public because it highlighted that the president does not possess enough knowledge about the issue which influences millions of people all around the world.

As it can be seen, each president addresses the problem of AIDS/HIV differently. In case I had a chance to decide how to manage the issue, I would primarily raise awareness about it by supporting local institutions and charitable organizations. I would also invest significant funds in the development of effective treatments that would help to prevent the spread of the virus and expand the life of people who are already sick.
