In Deuteronomy 28:1-14 Bible says, You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country ( Deuteronomy 28 (KJV) ). Gods word promises that if we accept His instruction to put Him first (to elevate Him above all other things in our life and revere Him as our first cause, our Creator), the benefits in our lives will grow so great that they will overcome us.
However, in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 Bible says, Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou is in the field ( Deuteronomy 28 (KJV) ). That seems to be because of human wickedness in forsaking The Lord, The Lord will bring cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that human beings set their hands to accomplish until they are destroyed and perish fast.
In Matthew 5:3, Jesus says, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven ( Matthew 5 (KJV) ). Jesus is implying that the kingdom of God belongs to the lowest of the poor financially, to those who have been crushed by poverty. In contrast, the wealthy have already received their compensation. This appears to be a bold statement; however, it is similar to another of Jesus teachings,
In Luke 6:24, Jesus says, But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation ( Luke 6 (KJV) ). When Jesus gave His most famous mountaintop teaching, He advised us not to hoard earthly goods. The seed that fell among thorns, Jesus remarked in the parable of the sower, represented people who hear Gods word but are choked by lifes problems, riches, and pleasures.
These blessings and curses reflect the versatility and power of the Lords word and his noble and humble nature. In every word of these sayings, one can hear the unshakable power of Jesus, the Lord, and Savior, making them so significant. He denounces the greed and anger of the rich and the purity of the humble soul of the poor and says that both a resident of a city and a village, both rich and poor, master and servant, can be righteous and a sinner. These blessings and curses inspire me to think about the righteousness of all before the Lord. After all, these passages are part of each person in society, which makes them close to me personally.
