Introduction

The environmental activism subculture is centered around ensuring the best outcomes for the environment. Members advocate for these interests through initiatives like informational campaigns, marches, lobbies, and peaceful protests. Its active expression of biospheric and altruistic values sets this group apart. The former values promote the interests of the environment, while the latter promotes those of fellow human beings (Conte et al., 2021). The core belief underlying these sentiments is that humans can only thrive if the environment also thrives.

Discussion

For an insider, embodying these values means actively participating in the push for policies and actions geared toward protecting the environment and securing a good habitat for every person in the world. Cultural expressions are tangible or intangible forms via which culture appears or manifests (Olasina, 2020). For environmental activists, this includes participating in the activities mentioned above and living in a manner that aligns with the core values.

For an outsider, experiencing this cultural expression involves witnessing the persistent fight for eco-friendly legislation and modes of operations and the resultant effect of the same. These individuals will be seeing the constant initiatives meant to raise awareness about human impact on the environment and their results in terms of changing attitudes, favorable laws, and others. Adopting both insider and outsider perspectives allows one to see that the social impact of actively pursuing biospheric and altruistic values is a consequence of well-organized action.

Conclusion

It is through proper execution that tangible effects have been seen, shown by the recent rise in the levels of general environmental concern. For instance, people across the globe are now more interested in eco-friendly operations at the individual and national levels, and this has been, in part, the product of organized environmental activism.
