AORN

I am a member of AORN. AORN stands for Association of Operating Room Nursing. AORN is a non-profit association with members throughout the United States. The organization is based in Denver, Colorado. AORN represents the interest of over 160000 nurses. Notably, AORN provides numerous benefits to its members. These include clinical practice resources, nursing standards, and nursing education. Additionally, AORN provides nurses with peer-reviewed journals, which are aimed at maximizing outcomes for patients in operating rooms. Additionally, the associations 42000 members are registered nurses with experience in teaching, practicing, or managing preoperative nursing. In addition, most AORN members are either involved in preoperative research or enrolled in nursing education.

Rationale

I joined AORN because I wanted to improve patient outcomes. Additionally, I wanted to strengthen my support for patient needs. AORN provided me with the opportunity to advocate for patients as well as link with other nurses with experience in operating rooms to provide better services. AORN has provided me with valuable information on providing preoperative services. Additionally, AORN has provided m with opportunities to increase my skills and experience in a preoperative environment. Moreover, the organizations ability to represent nurses needs on a wider scale also convinced me to join it. AORN has members with vast experience in preoperative services. This has presented me with valuable information on evidence-based practices in operation rooms. The organization also focuses on improving nurses skills through education and evidence-based research. These skills are valuable for me in the DNP project because they would aid me in succeeding in this course. Moreover, AORN has provided me with the basis for succeeding in the DNP program. I am, therefore, proud to be associated with AORN. In essence, AORN has helped me to value patient safety, quality care, and advocacy. AORN has also improved my passion for working with Breast cancer patients (AORN, 2013).
