America has always been the place for freedom and having the ability to succeed at anything we are passionate about. Americans are always looking for ways to better than lives while bettering themselves, but not every dream of each person is the same. We know of people who strive to be the best at singing or to make it big in the business industry, but no matter what they are striving for, they are all striving for something bigger than themselves. The American Dream will always be different for everyone, but also the sense of elitism can poison the dream for everyone.
To me, the American Dream isn’t only about money or being good at something for your family’s sake, yet the capacity to stroll into a room or a home and realize that your essence is invited and anticipated. The American Dream is understanding that in America we have the assets to have a genuine effect. There also really isnt anybody that truly explained my idea of the American Dream. From the introduction of America to America today, the main drive and the core of America have consistently been the American Dream. The American Dream is an objective for most individuals who live in the areas of the 1st world countries. I understand for most the American Dream is helping others, getting to be what they want to be, and living free. Instances of this dream are things like TV, vehicles, stores, the Internet, and so on. The American Dream is also achievement, opportunity, and having the option to control your very own fate. The ability to be free made this nation into the blend it is today, and that capacity still brings numerous foreigners or immigrants who put effort into the American Dream, and the nation. Today opportunity is frequently disregarded because we all are used to it, yet in many nations, the opportunity is only the American Dream. My American Dream is just to chase whatever dream I have, and to just live my life. I think that it’s fairly easy to consider approaches and to put grudges on the dreams of others, but what we can all know, is that it isnt easy and that it takes hard work and determination.
Since the beginning of it, the US has been loved as a definitive place where there is an unending chance. Individuals all around the globe moved to America to look for speedy riches, which was mainly in the years before our time. Starting in the late 1800s to the mid-1900s, the period brought dynamic thoughts into society and expressions of how to live your life. The American Dream since then has immensely changed and is not the same as it was before ensured, this started particularly after World War I. In the book The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, we get the idea that the American Dream is a materialistic thing. Throughout the book, there are glamorous parties and riches to no end. But if we look deeper into the story, we see that Gatsbys American Dream was to win Daisy back. The amazing house that Gatsby has is depicted as a thought that fills one need, to get Daisy back to himself. By characterizing Gatsby’s manor as a colossal affair by any standard&or rather&it was a mansion inhabited by a gentleman of the name (Fitzgerald, 9), Fitzgerald says here that Gatsby doesn’t claim the house, but instead, the house or the thought possesses Gatsby, and that there is no real goal in his vision. Gatsby has this big house with lots of parties that everyone from everywhere comes to, yet his goal is not to make people happier or to help provide fun to the people around him to make them happier. Gatsbys American Dream was to just get Daisy back. Even though you may have all these materialistic things in your life that seem to provide a grip on your life and that you may seem successful, deep within, beyond the things, there is a goal in everyone that is beyond what they show off.
Elitism in our country has been hurting the American Dream ever since it had begun. The big corporations and the thought of not striking it as big because of the elite scorning upon you demeans people and their dreams. People higher than us and with more power always say we cant do things or that we wont ever make it because the elite doesnt want to see the smaller man succeed. The elitists want to stay at the top, which is understandable, but when you have to step on the weaker, poorer man to remain the king of the hill, it’s just disgraceful and pitiful. Everyone deserves a chance to strike it rich and to do honest work, many people do great work or want to present an idea, but get turned down because they havent done anything meanwhile in their life. Elitism will sadly always remain though as everyone wants to climb to the top, and corporations will shut down the small man, shut down votes, shut down people’s jobs, and shut down peoples voices for the sake of winning or staying on top.
