Temporary Assistance for Needy Families is a program which provides low-income families with the necessary resources to sustain a decent level of life. The policys primary concern is promoting welfare among its recipient; yet, the program does not comply with cutting poverty (Policy basics, 2021). The leading solution would be to increase the level of employment among those who are eligible for the policy, including single parents, low-income families, and others. In addition, the civil movement could impact the expansion of labor market opportunities which is more likely to occur since social engagement can serve as catalysts for policy change.

The decline in payments caused social movements to take action to ensure stable pays to the vulnerable groups causing the states to increase the benefits. As a result, «thirteen states plus the District of Columbia increased their monthly TANF benefits between July 1, 2019, and July 1, 2020 (Sefawo & Floyd, 2020, para. 7). Even though the increase was insignificant and equaled less than $20, the initiative still impacted the policy reconsideration. Since 2013, 24 states and the District of Columbia raised payments at least once, and several states increased benefits multiple times (Sefawo & Floyd, 2020). The change signified a continuation of the positive trend.

Therefore, the claim to increase benefit turned out victorious because of the number of demands. In addition, the population realized that the situation would not change for the better without raising public awareness, which helped to make a shift within the policy framework. Hence, we can learn that demanding a pay increase is a legal initiative since it can change a communitys life. Besides, it is vital to ensure policy execution, and if they do not meet proper standards, they should be reframed.
