Art Creation

It is impossible to overestimate the necessity of inspirational poems for people of all ages. Thanks to the works of the greatest writers of all times, persons can find meaning in their lives, strength to hold on, and motivation to continue whatever they are doing. After reading such a poem, everything seems achievable and possible, and people forget about considering themselves weak or unlucky. In this paper, the great poetry of Rudyard Kipling will be analyzed and discussed.

The Inspiration Piece

Kiplings poem If was written in 1895 in England and became a tribute to Leander Starr Jameson. It was first published in 1910 in Rewards and Fairies (Kipling, n.d.). The special form of the poem, paternal advice, encourages the reader to pay specific attention to Kiplings words and put oneself in the place of the poets son (Kipling, n.d.). With the help of this poem, Kipling tries to help his son, as well as all readers, live with dignity and integrity, be sincere, brave, and trustworthy, and find their own places in this world.

My Art Piece

Decisions

With every living day, we have to make decisions:
To run, to sit, to cry, to laugh.
While some of them are easy, like above,
Others require courage and precision.
We need to know when to give up
All dreams, and plans, and horrors
And start again, while having none of sorrows
And trusting in whats promised by the one above.
We have to note when it is just the moment
To stay determined, resolute, and strong,
Cause nothing can be wrong
If cherished by a truthful Man.

This poem was written when I got inspired by Kiplings great piece of art that inspires and motivates people to live with dignity. In my poetry, I try to emphasize that our life is built of various choices and decisions, and not all of them are easy to make. If something goes wrong, maybe it is better to stop and take some time to think and make a new plan. Nothing that was predefined can remain just a dream. At the same time, there are situations when it is necessary to gather all your will and courage and achieve the purpose even if it is challenging.

The Connection

It may seem that there is no direct and strong connection between Kiplings poem and my piece, though I was inspired precisely by If. However, in both literary works, the theme of life decisions and the ways people can and should act is discussed. As for me, both poems are the same medium, which also unites them. The proper use of language helps the author make the readers experience precisely what is intended by reading his or her piece.
