Introduction

The theories explaining human nature can be categorized into two core groups: avocado and artichoke. Regarding the avocado philosophy, a person is perceived as self-enduring and stable, whereby their reasoning enables them to control their desires (Al & Alexa, 2021). An artichokes viewpoint is that an individual is perceived as versatile, lacking a tolerable and firm core. Discussing the similarities and differences between artichoke and avocado philosophical approaches is essential.

Compare and Contrast

The avocado idea of self is grounded on an avocado seed that stores all that database. The approach suggests that people have a fundamental human nature in them. The avocado model supports the unchanging inherent of people, and their actions stay the same in all situations at a given time (Mitchell, 2019). The avocado philosophy showcases that an individuals reasoning capacity distinguishes them from other creatures. My understanding of Plato and Aristotles belief that reason is the primary essence of people is that through using it, individuals can learn to do good and not make them weak.

An artichokes crucial information is contained in its outer layers; therefore, when it is peeled, nothing remains outside. The artichoke perspective demonstrates that the self can adapt to the changing global nature and its absence of continuity, and reasoning is unnecessary (Mitchell, 2019). My comprehension of the existential idea that peoples existence determines their essence is that individuals should realize that they are not psychological and physical but social and are responsible for their actions.

There is a significant concern regarding avocados idea of self-value reason over emotion. The approach has adverse effects on women as they are considered highly emotional, contrasted to rational men, which creates hate and torture towards ladies (Comprehension of Self, 2021). Since I do not find non-western critiques, nor am I pro-artichoke, I support the avocado philosophy as it makes people control their desires through reasoning. The two theories believe in reality, whereby the avocado model views people as divine, and the artichoke philosophy perceives them as ever-changing.

Conclusion

The avocado and artichoke ideas of self, apply and embrace reality, whereby the former regards individuals as divine and stable, while the latter views them as ever-changing. In comparison, the avocado model approach suggests that individuals must use reasoning to determine what is good and control their desires. Avocado views men as rational and women as emotional, while the artichoke approach showcases reasoning as unnecessary.
