American Revolution in 1775 was the result of prolonged tensions with British Empire that lasted over a decade before ultimately resulting in the revolution. The Seven Years war of 1756-1763, resulted in acquisition of new territories by the crown. However, the prolonged conflict caused extreme exhaustion of national resources and led to the establishment of new taxes opposed by the people.

These taxation attempts consisted of the Stamp Act (1765), the Townshend Acts (1767) and the Tea Act (1773) which were the subject of major protests and hatred among colonists. The colonists were dissatisfied by the lack of representation in official work of the Parliament and wanted to exercise the same rights as the subjects of Britain Empire. Colonial resistance escalated to violent acts in 1770 which is known as Boston Massacre when armed British soldiers shot at colonists and killed five men in the process. The Britain also initiated a series of intolerable and coercive acts as a retaliation towards colonists who disguised as Mohawk Indians and tossed over 92 000 pounds of tea. This can also be considered as an attempt to reassert imperial authority in Massachusetts.

The first steps towards independence were the formation of Continental Army with commander in chief in the face of George Washington. The first major battle faced by colonists was on June 17th at Breeds Hill in Boston when they inflicted heavy damages to the British army which encouraged revolutionary cause despite the loss of the battle. For prolonged period the forces led by Washington struggled in contamination of the British Army in Boston.

However, the artillery acquired from the Fort Ticonderoga turned the power balance to the colonists and led to British evacuation in March 1776. By June of the same year majority of colonists were in favor of establishment of independent state. On July 4th, the Congress decided to adopt the Declaration of Independence. After the creation of the Declaration Britain suffered major defeat at Saratoga which allowed France to openly support American cause and officially declare war on Britain in June 1778. Consequently, the revolution of America transformed into the major international conflict or world war.
