Introduction
Assessment of the disease and a correct diagnosis are parts of the treatment process which presuppose accuracy of performance and correct data. The clinical data should be collected properly in full measure. As there are different centers on research of different abnormalities in the human organism, it is necessary to establish a document which would be identical with documents used by other investigators (hereinafter referred to as sites). The name of this document is ACR trial protocol which ensures the collecting of all necessary data from different locations in order to provide a full picture of the disease, its treatment, and the research in general.
There are many parts of the ACR trial protocol, whereas the most essential are study objectives which include the purpose of the research, design of the trial which comprises the study plan that presupposes the schedule of tests, patients as participants, types of medications and dosages, procedures which should be followed, methodology, consideration of statistical data, and reasons for conducting the trial. All parts of the ACR trial protocols should be filled properly in accordance with the guidelines provided by the corresponding authorities.
The procedure of research is one of the most important parts included into the ACR trial protocols. It is necessary to establish a step-by-step procedure which would allow all sites follow the planned actions and take appropriate measures in the course of treatment. First thing that should be done before the research is conducted is outlining all reasons and objectives for conducting a clinical trial. When the objectives are set off, it is necessary to establish a procedure of research in terms of people that are required to participate in the project, schedule of tests, medications and dosages. All the cases of adverse reaction to drugs should be recorded as well.
Application of Dce-MRI
The dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (hereinafter referred t as DCE-MRI) is a method of viewing the abnormal cells and organs of the human body. The assessment in clinical research became more accurate was improved with the help of DCE-MRI which expanded the range and application of assessment of imaging. Microcirculation and the formation of new blood vessels which is typical of tumors which grow and require some extra oxygen and blood flows are developed by these tumors; as the studies conducted by Mross et. al have demonstrated that inhibitors have shown changes in Ktrans and/or iAUC that are consistent with reductions in VEGF-dependent tumor perfusion and vascular permeability (Mross et. al 2). As a result of sufficient changes in the structure and size of blood vessels, it is necessary to reduce the number and size of blood vessels which can slow or stop the progress of the tumor growth.
Assessment of metastases to liver can be done with the help of DCE-MRI. It is necessary to use imaging assessment while examining the condition of target involved organ. When the cancer affects the colorectal area, it is necessary to assess all areas related to these ones in terms of vascular system and common blood vessels. As blood is one of the most important aspects of human organs maintenance, it is necessary to reduce the number and size of blood vessels in order to cut the way to progress of cancer in the affected areas. As explored by Folkman, Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from the endothelium of pre-existing vasculature, plays a central role in tumor growth and metastasis (qtd. in Langen 632).
Chemotherapy and antiangiogenic drug use are essential in the process of treatment the organs affected with caner cells because the drugs are aimed at reducing the effect of cancer and slowing the progress of growth. Different types of therapies used simultaneously can be more effective than a single thearapy used in terms of systemic treatment of the same organs with various medications and approaches. The use of drugs can be claimed to produce the best effect in the combination with noninvasive therapies and appropriate assessment imaging. Some drugs should be used in combination with other different therapies, suchlike DCE-MRI cancer therapy which helps to image the condition of the blood vessels before and after the injections.
Conclusion
To conclude, I have learned more about the use of drugs in combination with chemotherapy and assessment imaging. It is important to realize the consequences of use of certain medications in terms of different organs and their vascular system. As it possible to view the condition of blood vessels before and after the injection of drugs into certain areas, it is necessary to incorporate appropriate methods to be used together with the antiangiogenetic drug. To prevent the growth of blood vessels which are used by tumors to provide oxygen and blood to the affected cells, it is necessary to introduce antiangiogenetic drug as a response to DCE-MRI cancer therapy. According to trial protocols, it is necessary to establish the plan of schedule of tests, required procedures, medications, and dosages before starting the research.
