Team building refers to the activities aimed at improving the efficiency of workers within an organization. It is aimed at instilling a better understanding between members of the team and the management. It also improves teamwork among team members and the customers, thus translating to consumer satisfaction and accomplishment of the organizations set goals (Quick, 1992). The level of team building in an organization can be achieved through stages such as personality-based-teambuilding, skills-based team building, which involves grouping of members according to technical skills, and problem solving-based when teams are formed to find solutions to an identified problem(s) and activity-based teambuilding.
Due to the increasing criticism of our company by the customers over its future developments in global regions, our first stage will be the problem-solving stage. This will include the involvement of team members in a retreat setting to come out with appropriate strategies for selling our products to global countries. This is because most of the team members are drawn from the local-global communities hence will be capable of noting the challenges facing our firm (Topchik, 2007). To achieve this, team leaders will ensure that the teams participate in outdoor activities within the countries where they are stationed so as to identify the possible cause(s) for the sales reduction and come out with possible solutions to regain consumer loyalty to our firm. Secondly, we will create teams according to their skills, which will involve assigning the teams responsibilities such as participation in trade fairs and organizing workshop sessions to enable them to acquire modern sales techniques, which will ensure the redemption of the firms image.
To promote trust among the new teams, we will initiate corporate community games in which all the team members from the various global countries where customers have been critical about the future of our firm will participate. This will bridge the cultural diversity and social values between members of the teams and even the society where they are stationed. Sports will also create a harmonious relationship between team members and the customers, thus reviving the interest of our customers who had lost interest in the firm (Topchik, 2007). In addition, the team members will be made to fill out a questionnaire about individual personalities as well as fellow team members. This will be used by the team leaders during team discussions and the allocation of responsibilities to the team members.
To promote workers morale toward the firms goals, there is a need to compensate team members in geographically remote areas (Quick, 1992). This will be done by providing them with facilities such as televisions and radios to update them on the happenings of the day. Similarly, the firm will also provide financial compensation to the team members in the remote areas on top of their normal salaries to boost their commitment while carrying out the activities of the firm. These workers will be paid hardship allowances to promote their commitment to work.
In conclusion, team building has proved to be the determinant of any organizations success as it depends wholly on the unity among the teams working towards a common goal. Proper application of the above-mentioned approaches in the right way will improve the activities of Ace consulting, and its reputation will increase globally among the customers who have been more critical about the future growth of Ace firm consulting.
