Management, like many other career paths, is constantly evolving with practices in the industry and technological improvements. However, there are a number of rules of management and skills a manager should possess in order to observe efficient operations at their workplace. These include consistency, which can be observed as a leader that rewards good conduct and work efforts and reduces negative behavior in a work environment. Effective communication can be characterized by the relaying of information in ways that are clear, accurate, and thorough. A manager is also a type of leader, and as such, they should be able to direct their team towards a goal. This requires a manager to facilitate goal-setting, cooperation, and engagement between a number of a companys departments or employees regarding the goals. A manager that is aware and not indifferent towards their colleagues and employees should be able to acknowledge hard work in settings that are public. In other leadership capacities, a manager must be able to lead others by example, this may even be observed in details such as being punctual or being patient in cases of workplace conflicts (Entrepreneur, 2016). A modern and progressive work environment is likely to recognize the diversity of their company and a manager who does not implement a one-size-fits-all strategy is more likely to notice improved results from employees. Clarity and transparency are also essential to building trust amongst colleagues as secrecy or shutting down discussion are likely to lead to poorer communication. Within diverse settings, managers should also be able to encourage a variety of ideas, approaches, and methods to problem-solving. An often overlooked but essential quality of an efficient manager can be summarized as being a good listener that is able to implement improvements that address the needs of the employees.
